MDI-DE Metadata search

With the QGIS plugin “MDI-DE Metadata Search,” you can search for metadata in QGIS, load linked geodata and services, and download them.

Various metadata catalogs can be searched:

• the NOKIS Metadata catalogue of the MDI-DE:
  • https://nokis.mdi-de-dienste.org
• the Geodatenkatalog of the GDI-DE:
  • https://gdk.gdi-de.org
• the EU EMODnet product catalogue:
  • https://emodnet.ec.europa.eu/geonetwork

The metadata query is performed in accordance with standards via the respective CSW interface of the catalogs, where corresponding filter criteria can be set—e.g., by geodataset, service (or map), download, or region (North Sea/Baltic Sea).

The plugin displays the most important metadata of the search hits, such as type, short description, publisher, date of change, terms of use, and a map preview. There are also links to the linked service or to detailed metadata.

The result can also be loaded directly into QGIS—either for visualization (as a WMS layer) or as a downloadable (WFS) layer.

The plugin can be easily installed in QGIS via the official QGIS extension repository.
